Monjasa Oil & Shipping Trainee, New York

Ready for a career that takes you on an international adventure in the oil and shipping industry? Can you picture yourself gaining hands-on experience from day one and playing a role in the movement of the world’s fleet and advancing global trade?

What does it mean to be a trainee with us?

You will become part of a global two-year programme that offers valuable insights into how we fuel global trade and take responsibility in the future of shipping. You will be able to apply your learning right from the start, and you will gain further shipping knowledge through Danish Shipping Education with the Danish Shipping Academy and other internal sessions with our own Monjasa Academy.

Buckle up for global rotations (2 x 1,5 months) across our offices such as Singapore, China, Japan, Greece, UAE, Denmark, Houston, New York, or Panama. This will give you firsthand experiences and understanding of different business contexts and cultures. In every office, we have an inclusive environment that oozes of team spirit and a multi-cultural vibe. We truly cherish moments spent together, also beyond work. All of this will give you a feeling of being home away from home during your rotations.

Your journey begins in your home office in August 2026 and unfolds shortly after with a kick-off in Denmark with a mix of school, teambuilding activities, internal education, and global onboarding programme.

Your daily tasks

• Support our Trading floor in all aspects of the Trader role
• Research on potential customers and markets
• Monitor oil prices and communicate to relevant stakeholders
• Support the sourcing team with purchasing of fuel

What can you contribute with?

• You enjoy building relations, and you are not afraid of challenging the status quo
• You have a relevant educational background, such as a bachelor’s degree, college education or similar, with extracurricular experiences from travel, work, living abroad or similar
• You are good at communicating in both verbal and written English, and if you speak another language, shout it out!
• You consider yourself as energetic and a good team player
• Prior shipping knowledge is not a requirement.

Ready to set sail?

You are free to apply to several Monjasa locations, however we would like to receive your application only once, and you will get the opportunity to tick off your additional locations in the application form. You will be asked to share a short video of yourself when uploading your data to the system. We will guide you through every step of the process.

After the application deadline, we will invite the candidates with the best fit for a personal interview in our New York office, on 25-27 Feb 2026. If you have shown interest in more than one location, you will be invited to the event closest to your home.
